A LITTLE INFORMATION ABOUT CHALLENGER LITTLE LEAGUE       facebook Become a Fan

The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League Baseball to allows boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 4 to 18 or until the completion of high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide.

Teams are set up with anywhere from 8 to 12 players depending on the sign ups for any given season. Each player gets a chance at bat, either by Tee-Ball or Coach pitch. The side is retired when the offense has batted through the roster. The Challenger players wear the same uniforms, shoulder patches and safety equipment as the other Little League players.

The registration fee for the Challenger Division is $40 per player with a limit of $60 for a family of three or more players. In the event of financial hardship, scholarships are available pending the approval of the board.

Each family will recieve 10 raffle tickets to be sold at $2.00/each to help offset the cost of the fee (you will keep the money from the tickets you sell). The drawing will be held at the end of the year Banquet and 1st prize will be $300, 2nd $200, and 3rd $100. Tickets will be passed out opening day.

One of the benefits of participating with the Challenger Division is that it encourages the use of "Buddies" for the players. The Buddies assist the player on the field, but whenever possible, they encourage the player to bat and make the play themselves. However, the Buddy is always nearby to help when needed.

Registration forms need to be returned by February 28th to have the uniforms ready and the rosters completed by Opening Day.
